NZ qualifies for Olympic dressage competition

directionsNew Zealand has been confirmed as having won a dressage place in next year's Athens Olympics, Dressage New Zealand said today. Confirmation came from the international body for equestrian sport, FEI.
In October, Clevedon's Louisa Hill and her mount, Gabana, were the top-scoring local combination at New Zealand's qualifying event in Auckland. However, Hill had an anxious wait to see if her mark of 66.25 per cent was enough to get her country a place in Athens out of group G. India withdrew from the group, leaving China's Lina Lui as the only rider to challenge Hill. Lui competed at an event in Stuttgart, in Germany, but was reported to have been given a mark of 46.8 per cent by the same judge who had assessed Hill.
