UCD vets to aid horses in their fourth Olympic Games
Working with world-renowned equestrians is standard for Drs. Jack Snyder and Sharon Spier, both of UC Davis, who will use their veterinary expertise at the 100th anniversary of the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece this summer. As large animal veterinarians, the two will head the Olympic equine referral hospital alongside an international team. Help will be available in the form of a full, on-site hospital prepared to treat between 250 and 300 horses. The services will benefit both smaller countries, which are unable to send their own veterinary representatives, and larger countries that can but need additional support. The horses will participate in three main events: jumping, dressage and three-day eventing - dressage, cross-country jumps and stadium jumps...
