Stylish "mare motels," updated landscaping and new arenas for popular horse events like dressage and barrel racing will be part of the redesigned stable at South Mountain Park when it debuts in the next few months... With horse properties throughout the Valley being bulldozed to make way for homes, the reinvented stables will include new public arenas for high-energy, Western-style barrel racers and pole benders, as well as facilities for jumping and dressage, the latter an artful English event that is experiencing record growth. "We'd be delighted to have another dressage ring at South Mountain," said Barbara Stine, membership chairwoman of the 30-year-old Arizona Dressage Association.
