Horse beats man in marathon race Man was unable to overcome beast in a unique endurance event today.Amid sweltering temperatures, the gruelling 22 mile "man versus horse" race in Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, Mid Wales, was won by an equine entrant.Gordon Green, the event organiser, had predicted the hot weather may tip the balance towards humans - for only the second time in its 26 year history - as he said they could cope better with the conditions.
