The Artistic Side Ought To Count More
I think we can agree that good dressage freestyle tests include three basic elements. It begins with the music, which should be directly related to the choreography. The music needs to set the tone, to fit the horse, to go with the movements, and to express something. Creative and unusual choreography, the second element, means they don’t just do the standard figures and they do them in a more demanding sequence, things like piaffe pirouette, extended canter to a double pirouette, or passage half-pass. Finally, there must be technical virtuosity...

Dressage Club Meets Wednesday
The next meeting of the Windsong Dressage Social Club will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the club room at Windsong Dressage and Equestrian Center, 733 Route 344 in Edgewood. The meeting will begin with a video review of currently available German dressage stallions who have frozen semen in the United States.

Duke, 83, is still a man of action
The Duke of Edinburgh showed that he was still a man of action at the age of 83 yesterday by coming second in his class at the end of gruelling three-day horse driving trials. He was competing at the event during Sandringham Country Show at the weekend, which attracted about 15,000 visitors over Saturday and Sunday and was hailed by organisers as a "huge success"...he was in second place after the dressage on Friday...

This is why horses have such long faces!
A study by researchers from the Nottingham Trent University claims to have found the reason behind the long grumpy faces of horses.
They found that the horses kept in stables for long periods during the winter get the winter blues, and like humans, are likely to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (Sad).
