Spain's Beatriz Ferrer-Salat won the opening phase of the dressage World Cup qualifier at the London International Horse Show, Olympia. The Olympic bronze medallist partnered Beauvalais to first place in the Grand Prix, just pipping British duo Carl Hester and the 11-year-old Escapado. The two join the 13 other top-placed riders in Wednesday night's freestyle, which determines the overall title. ...The United States Equestrian Federation, the United States Dressage Federation, and the United States Hunter Jumper Association have reached an historic understanding regarding joint membership, horse registration, competition recognition, competition data, and awards programs. This agreement will provide significantly improved service to dressage and hunter-jumper members. On Nov. 3, representatives from USEF, USDF, USHJA and the Leesburg-based United States Eventing Association met at Salamander Farm near Middleburg, to discuss the three Olympic affiliates and to identify processes and procedures common to each organization, that could be integrated for the best interests of the sport and its members...

German Head to Head Sees Schmidt Emerge Victorious while New Contenders Impress
...Hubertus Schmidt and Wansuela Suerte narrowly snatched victory over Heike Kemmer and Bonaparte by a fraction of a point. In Wansuela Suerte's first outing since Athens, she and Schmidt took command in both the Grand Prix and the FEI World Cup Freestyle qualifier.
